The Grayson County and Leitchfield Tourism Commissions are currently looking for volunteers to operate their booth at the upcoming Kentucky State Fair.
The county and city tourism commissions will share a double booth at the state fair to promote Grayson County’s and Leitchfield’s tourist attractions and businesses.
“We get to meet a lot of people who want to stay in the state of Kentucky,” Grayson County Tourism Director Brittany Gary said of attending the state fair. “It’s a good way for us to talk to people.”
The Kentucky State Fair will be held from Thursday, August 14 through Sunday, August 24 at the Kentucky Exposition Center, located at 937 Phillips Lane in Louisville, KY.
Each day of the fair, the operation of the Grayson County booth will be divided into three shifts, morning (8 a.m. to noon CST), afternoon (noon to 4 p.m. CST), and evening (4 p.m. to 9 p.m. CST).
Grayson County and Leitchfield Tourism currently have several open positions available for the booth and are requesting volunteers to help cover it during the times when Gary and Leitchfield Tourism Director Ilsa Johnson are not available to do so.
“The booth is manned on a volunteer basis and could not be a success without the support of the community,” said Gary.
Tourism is looking for individuals who are “excited and passionate about our community,” knowledgeable about the goings-on in Grayson County, and can serve as spokespersons for it, Gary said.
To volunteer to help work at the booth, call Gary at 270-259-5587 or e-mail her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
