Rough River Lake 2014 opening and closing dates

With summer quickly approaching, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announces opening and closing dates, by loop, for the Axtel, North Fork, Cave Creek, and Laurel Branch Campgrounds.


Axtel: Loops A & B - Open April 17 and Close October 27


Loops C & D - Open May 15 and Close October 27


Restroom facility between the D and E loops is only open on holiday weekends.


Loops F & G - Open May 15 and Close September 8


Restroom facility in the back of Loop G is only open on holiday weekends.


Loops E, H, I will be opened and closed as follows:


Open May 22 - Close May 28


Open July 2 - Close July 9


Open August 28 - Close September 3


Laurel Branch: Loops A & B - Open March 27 and Close October 27


Loops C & D - Open May 2 and Close October 27


Restroom facility by loops C and D will be open May 2 and Close October 27


North Fork: Loops A, C, D, E, & F - Open May 2 and Close September 15


Loop B - Open May 2 on holidays and weekends only and Close September 15


Restroom facility by loop E and between loops C and D will only be open on holiday weekends.


Cave Creek: Loops A, C, D, & F will be opened and closed as follows:


Open May 22 - Close May 28


Open July 2 - Close July 9


Open August 28 - Close September 3


Loops B and E - Open May 22 and Close October 27


New in 2014: All campsites in the North Fork, Laurel Branch and Axtel Campgrounds are reservable and you will be able to book your campsite the same day you plan to camp.


Reserve your campsite online at www.recreation.gov, by calling 1-877-444-6777, at the campground fee booth when park attendant is on duty, or at the Corps of Engineers Project Office for same day reservations when the park attendant is not on duty.


Please do not set up on any campsite unless you have a reservation or have checked in with the Park Attendant. All campers with a reservation must check in with the campground Park Attendant within two hours of setting up on their campsite.
