Residents of Grayson County will have numerous opportunities to celebrate Independence Day this weekend.
First, on Friday, July 4, Grayson Manor Nursing Home, located at 505 E. Lake Dr. in Leitchfield, will host its annual fireworks display for its residents and their families.
A picnic and cookout will be held at 6 p.m., and the popular fireworks display will begin around 8:30 p.m. on Friday, according to Ed Cubbage with the Grayson Manor maintenance staff.
More than $1,200 worth of fireworks will be shot off from Grayson Manor on Friday.
“It's going to be better than we had last year,” Cubbage said.
Also, starting at sundown on Friday, the Knights of Columbus will host their fireworks display in Peonia.
In addition to the Knights' fireworks display, activities, including games and karaoke, will be held throughout the day, and food will be served.
Then, on Saturday, July 5, Rough River Dam State Resort Park will host its annual “Rumble on the Rough” fireworks display.
“It's the biggest [fireworks display] your going to find within 400 miles,” said Rough River Park Manager Michael Ricks.
The 40-45 minute fireworks display will begin at Rough River at 9 p.m. on Saturday, and Ricks said he anticipates between 8,000 and 10,000 people will attend the event.
The Rumble on the Rough fireworks display is being funded by Rough River Business and Tourism, Friends of Rough River Lake, and local businesses.
