Grayson County High School club Go Green Grayson attended the recent Leitchfield City Council meeting to offer to help with the upcoming Community Wide Clean-Up.

Club advisor, GCHS teacher Lisa Skaggs said, during the regularly scheduled Monday, April 7 City Council meeting, Go Green Grayson started as a class project and evolved into an outreach program that helps local businesses and citizens develop more environmentally friendly or “green” practices.

This year’s project involves helping businesses recycle used ink cartridges, she said.

The Community Wide Clean-Up will take place this Saturday, April 12, from 8 a.m. to noon, and Go Green Grayson has offered to increase exposure for the event by challenging all GCHS clubs to participate in the event, Skaggs said.

Go Green Grayson also offered to publicize the event on its website and with the distribution of announcements and flyers.

Skaggs requested the City Council’s approval for the club to participate in the Community Wide Clean-Up, and the City Council unanimously passed a motion to allow Go Green Grayson to participate.
