Here comes the bride - and the rest of the wedding party, as they show off the latest in wedding trends this weekend right here in Leitchfield.

The newest marker of Leitchfield’s expanding small business community will come in the form of the community’s first bridal fashion show and wine-tasting event to be sponsored by Madison Square Boutique and held at Midtown Cafe and Inn this Saturday, March 15 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m.

The fashion portion of the event will feature around 25 bridal gowns and bridal party dresses. The couture displayed is from the soon-to-be-opening MSB Bridal, an off-shoot of Madison Square Boutique, which will be Leitchfield’s only bridal boutique when it opens its doors in April.

The shop’s owner, Anne Gonzales, said that the gowns will be modeled by local brides-to-be and that she is thrilled to be sponsoring the event and showing the community that you really can shop local and put together the perfect wedding right here in Grayson County.

“We are promoting businesses that all have to do with weddings,” Gonzales said, listing a wide variety of local vendors from florists and DJs to photographers, jewelry shops, hairdressers, caterers and wedding or reception venues.

All of these locally-owned-and-operated businesses will be on hand at Saturday’s showcase to help those who are planning an upcoming wedding or event see the quality and value they can get by spending locally.

“If you spend your money locally, it stays in the community,” Gonzales explained. “If you buy somewhere else, that money does not come back here.”

She also said that when you buy goods or services here in Grayson County, you can often find better deals and save money compared to purchasing the same thing elsewhere. She explained that her shop’s dresses, for example, will come with a significantly lower price tag than they would if purchased in Elizabethtown or Louisville.

Manuela Mattingly, owner of Midtown Inn and Cafe, and the event’s co-sponsor, adamantly agreed that anyone can put together a gorgeous wedding while still supporting local small businesses and the local economy.

She called the upcoming event “a fun get-together and an informative afternoon.”

Mattingly said she is also excited to be featuring a variety of Kentucky-made wines from Brooks Hill Winery. The wine-tasting event will take place following the fashion show and will last from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m.

The bridal fashions will be displayed from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m.

Midtown Cafe & Inn is located at 400 North Main Street in Leitchfield. For additional information on the event, contact Madison Square Boutique at 270-230-3825 or Midtown Cafe and Inn at 270-230-0400.
