More than 300 farm-fresh burgers were cooked up for ‘Farmer Appreciation Day’ on Wednesday afternoon in a combined effort between Wilson & Muir Bank and The Grayson County Cattlemen’s Association.
The event has been going strong for decades now, and is held the day before Thanksgiving each year as a way of saying ‘thanks’ to the numerous local farmers who keep our community running and our tables full.
Cattlemen’s member Roger White said that the event - and their organization - is also largely about awareness. “It’s about knowing where your food is coming from,” said White, who himself farms here in Grayson County.
The Cattlemen’s Association currently has the largest membership of any community club in the county.
