A two-vehicle accident slowed traffic to a near stand-still on Hwy 259 South on Monday afternoon, Oct. 28.
According to a police report filed by Detective Jeff Kelsey, with the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred at approximately 1 p.m. when a 2000 Ford F150 driven by Dwight Meredith, 63, of Letichfield, slowed and signaled to turn.
The 2003 Ford ZX2 was operated by 80-year-old Randall Wood, also of Leitchfield. Wood told officers that he looked away for a moment and did not see Meredith’s vehicle slow down.
Wood’s passenger car struck the rear of the truck, sustaining significant damage. Wood’s truck received moderate damage, and was pulled off of the roadway, while Meredith’s vehicle required towing.
Wood was taken by Grayson County EMS to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center for treatment of chest paints. No other injuries were reported.
GCSO and GCEMS were assisted at the scene by Leitchfield Police Department.
