UPDATED: A 19-year-old was injured when her vehicle flipped at least six times before coming to a rest in a concrete ditch beside the Western Kentucky Parkway at approximately 3:44 p.m. on Sunday, September 29.

Morgan McDaniel, of Peters, Missouri, was travelling westbound on the parkway when she lost control of her 2003 Chevrolet Blazer 2D 4x2, according to witness James Kennedy’s report to the responding Grayson County Sheriff’s Office.

McDaniel told police she had been looking down for a short time and when she looked back up, she saw a red truck, owned by Kennedy, in the emergency lane.

McDaniel thought she was too close to the truck, so she swerved left to avoid a collision, the GCSO reported.

McDaniel then crossed the median of the parkway on the westbound side, crossed the eastbound lanes of travel, and her vehicle overturned at least six times before coming to a rest in a concrete ditch off the right side of the eastbound lane of travel near the 92 mile marker, the GCSO said.

McDaniel told the GCSO that she had been driving over the speed limit at the time of the accident.

McDaniel was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident, which prevented her from being ejected from the vehicle, the GCSO said.

The GCSO reported that McDaniel was alert when first responders arrived and was transported by Grayson County Emergency Medical Services to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center.

The Blazer received severe damage as a result of the accident and was towed from the scene by Tanner’s, according to the GCSO’s report.

The Caneyville Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the accident.
