A two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Owensboro Road and Falls of Rough Road sent two to the hospital on Saturday evening, June 28.
According to the report filed by Detective Adam Cottrell, with the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, the driver of one of the vehicles explained that he thought the intersection was a four-way stop and pulled out in front of the other driver, thinking he had the right of way.
74-year-old James W. Ward, of Bowling Green, approached the intersection travelling north on Falls of Rough Road in a 2009 Toyota Corolla.
Though Ward saw a 2013 Chevrolet Impala approaching on Owensboro Road, he thought the other vehicle was required to stop, and so continued into the intersection, where his vehicle was struck by the oncoming car.
The driver of the Impala, 76-year-old Fayetta H. Barton, of Caneyville, was treated at the scene by Grayson County EMS for multiple injuries, and was transported to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center for further treatment.
Ward was uninjured, but his passenger, 72-year-old Janie Ward, also of Bowling Green, suffered leg injuries for which she was treated at the scene and transported to TLRMC.
Both vehicles were severely damaged.
