Sheriff Rick Clemons cautioned drivers on the parkway to pay close attention while travelling in the construction zones currently set up between the Leitchfield and Caneyville exits.

Monday morning saw another wreck in the westbound lane at around the 99 mile marker at just after 6:30 a.m.

According to a report filed by Deputy Clay Boone, with the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, a 1999 Dodge Ram driven by 19-year-old Virgil T. Yoder, of Clarkson, struck a cushioned guard rail in the construction zone, causing severe damage to both the truck and the guard rail.

The report states that Yoder told Boone that he had fallen asleep at the wheel prior to the accident.

Upon contact with the guard rail, the pick-up truck went into the left lane of traffic, where it came to a rest, blocking traffic completely.

Yoder and his passengers, 23-year-old Joseph Yoder and another teenage male, along with the construction crew, moved the truck out of the way and into the construction lane to allow other vehicles to pass through.

Boone noted that there was an advisory speed sign in effect where the wreck occurred.

None of the three passengers in the truck were injured during the accident.
