A Sunday morning wreck sent one to the ER and damaged Claggett Baptist Church’s property on May 11.

At just after 10:30 a.m., a 2002 Ford Focus being driven by 33-year-old Kevin Pennington, of Tara Woods Drive in Leitchfield, ran off of the roadway four miles west of Leitchfield on Owensboro Road.

According to the accident report filed with the Grayson County Sheriff’s Department by Deputy Bryan Hammons, Pennington lost control of the vehicle and struck the church’s sign.

The vehicle then overturned and, after flipping, came to a rest on its wheels.

Pennington suffered non-incapacitating injuries to the arms and hands during the incident and was taken to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center’s Emergency Room by private vehicle for treatment of his injuries.

Pennington’s vehicle was severely damaged in the accident, and the church’s property and signage suffered damage as well.
