Commuters who travel Brandenburg Road will have to find alternate routes beginning Monday morning, June 30 due to the closure of the P & L Railroad crossing at Brandenburg Road.
The crossing, which is located in Leitchfield near Best Donut and Embry’s Bike Shop, will be shut down by the railroad company for “rehabilitation of the crossing,” according to Chris Jessie, representative for the KY Department of Transportation.
Jessie said that while he recommended to P & L that the work not commence until after morning commute hours, the railroad is not under obligation to follow that recommendation, and work could begin early that morning.
In addition to upkeep, the approach to the crossing will also have to be repaved.
Work should last approximately three to five days, and signage will be posted throughout the roadwork period.
The road is expected to be open by Friday, July 4 if not earlier.
