A former delivery driver was arrested after making a delivery to the Grayson County Detention Center which included smuggled contraband items on Tuesday, July 1.

28-year-old Jeremiah Davis, of Hartford, was taken into custody shortly after leaving the GCDC Tuesday afternoon. Detention Center Officer Larry Vanmeter arrested Davis and charged him with promoting contraband in the second degree, a Class A misdemeanor.

Davis is currently being lodged in the detention center on a $2,500 surety bond.

Newly-appointed Jailer Jason Woosley said of the arrest, “We hear scuttlebug from time to time between the inmates, and the deputy who runs the kitchen heard inmates talking about the possibility of this a month and a half ago. We’ve been watching, and we finally caught him.”

Davis, who made soft drink deliveries to the jail’s commissary, is accused of smuggling tobacco products, which are prohibited within the detention center, into his deliveries.
