An outbreak of thefts in the Eveleigh area of Grayson County may be linked to a suspected arson, according to the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office.

The rash of thefts have both the GCSO and Kentucky State Police working diligently to find the person(s) responsible for the robberies which have been plaguing both the Holiday Rough and Cascade Acres subdivisions.

According to Detective Adam Cottrell, the Cascade Acres thefts have included multiple break-ins at one particular residence, which has now been destroyed by fire.

Arson is suspected, and the State Fire Marshal is currently looking into the incident.

Cottrell said that the residence which burned, along with many of the other homes which were burglarized, is a “weekend home” with owners who reside primarily outside of Grayson County.

Cottrell said that he is currently investigating leads on the thief and certain evidence has been sent for testing.

Cottrell is serving as the lead investigator in the Cascade Acres crimes, while KSP Trooper Brad Riley is heading up the investigation in Holiday Rough Subdivision.
