A Leitchfield man lost his life in a car crash on Hanging Rock Road on Monday, Aug. 28.
At around 2:40 p.m. on Monday afternoon, the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO), Leitchfield Police Department, Leitchfield Fire Department, and Grayson County EMS responded to 2427 Hanging Rock Rd. on a reported injury accident.
Minutes later, personnel from the Grayson County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene, as well.
According to GCSO Chief Deputy Major Corey Knochel, a blue Nissan Altima had been travelling eastbound on Hanging Rock Road when it left the roadway on the right side.
The Nissan then struck rocks on the ground beside the roadway before driving into a tree, travelling a few yards further, and finally coming to a rest facing eastbound in a field to the right of Hanging Rock Road, according to police.
The driver of the Nissan, 40-year-old Myron Rich, of Leitchfield, was declared dead on the scene, and his body was transported by Grayson County Coroner Joe Brad Hudson to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for further investigation.
GCSO Deputy Taylor Logsdon said Rich was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
The Nissan was disabled as a result of the accident and was removed from the scene by Terry’s Towing.
The accident remains under investigation by Logsdon and Hudson.
