Woman killed in head-on collision

Two vehicles collided head-on near Rock Crusher Hill Sunday evening, Aug. 13, claiming the life of a Caneyville woman.

Around 4:12 Sunday evening, a white Chevrolet Trailblazer, driven by Denise D. Laxton, 42, of Leitchfield, collided head-on with a white Buick Enclave, driven by Brenda T. Weedman, 69, of Caneyville, near Westside Auto Repair on West White Oak Street, near Rock Crusher Hill.

Laxton, Brenda Weedman, and her passenger, Dorman Weedman, 71, of Caneyville, were airlifted to the University of Louisville Hospital.

Brenda Weedman succumbed to her injuries. The conditions of Laxton and Dorman Weedman were unknown at press time.

The crash left the Trailblazer resting across both lanes of traffic, while the Buick rested off the shoulder against a guard rail.

Leitchfield Police Department (LPD), Leitchfield Fire Department, Grayson County Emergency Medical Services, Grayson County Sheriff’s Office and Kentucky State Police personnel were present on the scene.

LPD Officer Bart Glenn was the lead in the investigation. According to Officer Glenn, there were no witnesses who were not involved in the accident.

Both vehicles were disabled as a result of the accident and were removed via towing services.
