For more than 100 years, the Grayson County News-Gazette has served its community as the premier source for local news, and that tradition will continue as the paper comes under new ownership.
Paxton Media Group became the new owner of the News-Gazette as of 12:01 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 6.
“Representing five generations of family ownership, Paxton Media Company, headquartered in Paducah, is proud and honored to have the opportunity to acquire the Grayson County News-Gazette,” said Bob Morris, Group Publisher for Paxton Media Company. “For over 100 years, we have had one goal in mind and that is to publish great local newspapers. We are proud to continue this tradition, and, under the leadership of the outstanding staff at the paper, we look forward to being a strong voice for the Leitchfield and Grayson County community.”
With roots tracing back to 1881, the Grayson County News-Gazette has a storied tradition of providing the most comprehensive and up-to-date coverage of all the happenings in Grayson County, and this will not change.
The paper will still publish twice per week on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and the staff will remain the same, as well.
“We are very enthusiastic and pleased with the announcement of joining forces with the Paxton Media Company,” said Grayson County News-Gazette General Manager Rhonda Sparks. “We look forward to becoming a part of such an established family-owned business and hope to continue their goal of publishing a great local newspaper!”
