Leitchfield native Chad Meredith has been announced as the new Deputy General Counsel in the Governor’s Office.

Governor-Elect Matt Bevin’s transition team made the announcement last week which named Meredith to the position.

The 34-year-old attorney was raised in Leitchfield and currently works in Lexington, where he lives with his wife Rebekah and their three young children.

Following the announcement, Meredith said, “I am honored to be given this opportunity to serve Governor Bevin and the people of Kentucky. Governor Bevin has assembled a phenomenal team, and I am thrilled to join it. I look forward to helping the Governor implement his vision for the Commonwealth.”

“Chad is an impressive lawyer with the rare distinction of work experience in both United States district and circuit courts,” said General Counsel Steve Pitt. “He will do an excellent job in service to the Commonwealth.”

Meredith earned a Bachelor’s of Arts from Washington and Lee University and received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Kentucky College of Law, where he was a recipient of the Bert Combs Scholarship.

He has a unique and desirable background, having served as a clerk for both a United States district judge (John M. Rogers on the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit) and a United States circuit judge (Amul R. Thapar on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky).

Following his clerkships, Meredith entered private practice with the law firm of Frost Brown Todd, LLC in Louisville before moving to Lexington to join his current firm, Ransdell & Roach.

Additionally, Meredith currently serves as Chairman of the Litigation Section of the Kentucky Bar Association, is a member of the Central Kentucky American Inn of Court, and serves on the Kentucky Advisory Committee to the United States Commission on Civil Rights.

During his professional career, Meredith has received numerous accolades including AV-Preeminent Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell and being named by peers to the Kentucky Super Lawyers Rising Stars list.
