Police investigating infant death

Local law enforcement is currently investigating the Thursday, Oct. 15 death of a two-month-old infant.

In a Leitchfield Police Department (LPD) news release, LPD Detective Kevin Smith said LPD and Grayson County Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to a West Shain Drive residence at approximately 5:23 a.m. on Thursday morning in response to a call concerning an unresponsive infant, whose identity has not yet been released.

“Upon arrival to the location, it was determined that a two-month-old infant was deceased,” Smith wrote.

As of Thursday evening, the cause of the infant’s death was not yet determined, and no updates in the case were available as of press time on Friday morning, Oct. 16.

The Kentucky State Police are assisting the LPD with the investigation.
