The Caneyville City Commission was presented with a plan to fund the next phase of the wastewater project, during last night’s meeting.

Ashley Willoughby from Lincoln Trail Area Development District addressed the commission regarding funding for the next phase of the wastewater project.

He distributed packets of information regarding an Infrastructure Revolving Loan. This would be a 20-year low interest loan. The commission agreed to allow Willoughby to continue to apply for the loan.

Willoughby added that the new applications for a Community Development Block Grant would be accepted May 3rd. This is actually later than normal but he would have the application ready for review. The commission agreed to pass a resolution to apply for a CDBG. Commission will hold a public hearing on April 12th at 6 pm.

In other business:

• The city has agreed to apply for a Safety Grant in the amount of $3,477.00 to purchase safety signs, stands and safety cones for the water and waste water department and the fire department. This matching grant is funded through Kentucky League of Cities.

• The commission agreed to send Caneyville City Clerk Brenda Brown to Kentucky Municipal Clerks Conference on April 14 – 16.

• Caneyville Fire Chief Anthony Clark reported that the Division of Forestry had inquired if the Caneyville Fire Department had a need for a 4-wheel-drive truck that had formerly been utilized by Wax Fire Department. The truck needs several repairs. No decision was made pending more information.

• Clark also reported that the freightliner truck had been taken to Indiana where it was determined the recall didn’t reveal any problems. During the trip, the windshield cracked but has been replaced. He reported the firemen are working on the brush truck to make it more serviceable.
