One man was injured when the moped he was operating collided with a passenger car on Thursday afternoon on Brandenburg Road.

The incident occurred in front of Firefighter Park when, according to witnesses at the scene, a gold Chevrolet Impala which was travelling north on Brandenburg Road (Highway 259 North) slowed to a stop, waiting to turn left onto Goff Drive.

Witnesses stated that the moped driving behind the Impala failed to slow and rear-ended the car.

The moped and its driver came to a rest in the ditch on the north-bound side of the roadway in front of the car.

The driver of the moped sustained unspecified injuries. First responders explained that he initially refused treatment, but changed his mind moments later and was treated at the scene by Grayson County EMS before being transported to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center’s Emergency Room for further treatment of injuries.

Neither the driver nor passenger of the car were injured in the collision, which caused only slight damage to the car.

Leitchfield Police Department, Grayson County EMS, and Leitchfield Volunteer Fire Department all responded to the incident.
