Local residents, students, elected officials and leaders of the faith community celebrated National Day of Prayer with prayer walks and a well-attended ceremony held on the lawn of the Judicial Center on Thursday, May 1.

Speakers included Judge Executive Gary Logsdon, State Representative C.B. Embry, Mayor William Thomason, and Brother Chester Shartzer.

In addition, the Grayson County High School Band and Caneyville Elementary Choir performed for the crowd.

This year’s event revolved around the theme ‘One Voice,’ with the goal of bringing together people from all walks of life to serve a common goal.

The local community celebration began one decade ago. When asked what impact this event has had on Grayson County over the past 10 years, Shartzer said, “I believe it has been positive, it has brought the church community together with our local government and shown everyone that we can work together to better our community.”
