Friends of Nolin Lake recently started its annual t-shirt fundraiser and, for the first time, will sell the shirts online.
Within the first week of the fundraiser, Friends - a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting, preserving, and enhancing Nolin Lake - had already sold more than 90 of the limited edition 2014 Nolin Lake shirts.
All proceeds from the sale of the shirts will, along with membership fees and sponsorships, help fund Friends-hosted events at the lake.
“It’s a win-win for everybody,” Friends of Nolin Lake President Glenna Black said. “The t-shirts help promote the lake.”
Gena Wagner, the winner of Friends of Nolin Lake’s first ever t-shirt design contest, designed the shirts to portray the various recreational opportunities at Nolin Lake, specifically camping, water sports, fishing, mountain biking, and boating, according to Black.
Additionally, on the back of the shirt is a schedule of Friends-funded events, including the upcoming Paddle Nolin, which will be held on Saturday, May 17.
The t-shirts are available in either kiwi green or sunset. To purchase a shirt at the cost of $16, visit www.booster.com/fonl.
Black said she feels that, by selling the shirts online and more actively promoting the fundraiser on social media outlets, Friends of Nolin Lake will, hopefully, surpass its goal of selling 100 shirts.
The fundraising campaign began on Friday, April 11 and will end on Wednesday, April 30, said Black.
After the current campaign has ended, Black said she will likely post a poll online to see if there is still interest in the shirts. If so, Friends may print more shirts in other colors, such as University of Kentucky blue and University of Louisville red.
