Jan. 26 started the week of celebration for students, staff, and families of St. Paul School, located in Grayson County, KY. The theme this year for National Catholic Schools Week was, “Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge, and Service.” In keeping with that theme, Head Teacher Joan Butterworth wanted to bring people in from the community each day of Catholic Schools Week to speak to students about their profession and the importance of faith in God. Speakers emphasized the importance of setting goals, getting a good education, and keeping God at the center of their lives.
Fr. Steve Hohman, pastor of St. Paul and St. Elizabeth parishes, and Sr. Anne Michelle Mudd, religion teacher at St. Paul School, spoke to students about vocations and their experiences. Other speakers throughout the week were Sandy Clemons (veterinarian), Roni Mudd (dietitian), Buck Meredith (police officer), Judy Summers (bank teller), Travis Skaggs (builder), and Dennis DePoyster (fireman). Students and staff were excited to hear from all the different visitors from the community. They wish to express their sincere gratitude to those who took time from their busy schedules to share experiences and beliefs.
