A red 1999 Ford F150 crashed into a concrete pillar and a black Ford pick-up truck in front of Rent-A-Center in the Southgate Mall in Leitchfield on Friday, January 10.

At around 4:17 p.m. on Friday, the Leitchfield Police Department responded to a report of a vehicle that had crashed into Rent-A-Center.

The owner of the F150, Tommy Limer, 68, of Hudson, told police he had parked his truck in the front row of Rent-A-Center and entered the business.

Limer stated that the F150 had likely slipped out of gear, causing it to move forward; however, officers noted that the F150’s gear shift was still in the parked position, the report read.

A witness to the accident told police he was helping the owner of the black Ford pick-up truck load a refrigerator onto the truck when he noticed the F150 was driverless and heading toward him and the black Ford, the report read.

The witness told police that the F150 then struck the concrete pillar and the back right quarter panel of the black Ford before coming to a rest.

According to the report, whether the F150 slipped out of gear or wasn’t fully placed in park before the driver exited the vehicle to enter Rent-A-Center is currently unknown.

No one was reported injured as a result of this accident.
