The Leitchfield Police Department is currently seeking donations for its Shop with a Cop program, which will be held on Saturday, December 14.

Through the program, the LPD will take a number of local children in need to Walmart to purchase necessary school items, such as clothing, socks, and coats, according to Leitchfield Chief of Police Kevin Henderson.

The LPD has raised $2,500 so far, but “we’ll take any donations we can get - the more money we can get, the more kids we can take,” Henderson said.

Following the shopping trip, the LPD plans use any additional money to take the children out to eat, Henderson said.

Anyone wishing to make a donation may make a check payable to LPD Shop with a Cop.

The Leitchfield Police Department is located at117 South Main Street in Leitchfield and may be contacted by phone at 270-259-3850 for further information.
