Grayson County resident, Bob Ketterer's grandson Tristan Barrett won the KHSAA State High School Bass Fishing Championship Tournament at Kentucky Dam Marina in Calvert City, Ky.

Tristan Barrett, from Marshall County, won the KHSAA State High School Bass Fishing Championship Tournament at Kentucky Dam Marina in Calvert City, Ky.

Tristan is the son of Tricia Ketterer Freeland and Chad Barrett, and grandson of Grayson County resident, Bob Ketterer, an avid fisherman.

According to Tricia Barrett, there were 68 boats in the tournament that consisted of 17 boats from four different regions in Kentucky.

She said the tournament lasted two days, May 11 and 12.

According to Tricia Barrett, there were 2200 high school anglers competing in the championship.

Tristan and his partner caught their five-fish-limit on the first day and they had a combined weight of 17lbs, 12oz, according to Tricia Barrett.

She said on the second day, the team weighed three fish that totaled 9lbs, 15oz.

“The combined total weight of 27lbs, 11oz for the two days was enough to secure them 1st place in the State Championship, she said.

According to Tricia Barrett, “this was the first time Marshall County High School had won the state tournament. We are all so proud of Tristan and this great accomplishment!”
