A single-wide mobile home on Shrewsbury Road was ruled a total loss after a Tuesday fire.

A single-wide mobile home on Shrewsbury Road was destroyed by a fire early Tuesday, Dec. 19.

At around 12:05 a.m. on Tuesday, the Leitchfield Fire Department and Grayson County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported structure fire at 6696 Shrewsbury Road.

According to Leitchfield Fire Chief Tim Duvall, a passerby saw the mobile home, which had a small addition to it, on fire with flames coming out of the windows and reported it.

Upon firefighters' arrival, the mobile home was "fully involved" in flames.

Fire department personnel knocked the blaze down within about 30 minutes, and kept exposure down, preventing any damage to the surrounding area; however, the structure was ruled a total loss as a result of the fire, Duvall said.

"It had a good head start, plus it was about seven miles out," said Duvall.

No injuries were reported, and the mobile home was unoccupied at the time of the fire.

The blaze is believed to have been electrical in nature. Duvall said the mobile home had been unoccupied since October, but it may have either been in the process of being remodeled or was about to be remodeled.

Leitchfield Fire Department personnel cleared the scene after about an hour and a half.
