A woman was struck by a van in front of the old courthouse Tuesday morning, while trying to use the crosswalk.

According to Leitchfield Police Detective Kevin Smith, on Nov. 21 at 8:17 a.m., dispatchers received a call about a subject who was struck by a vehicle on the courthouse square.

The victim, Kaleigh Vertrees, of Bonneville, was struck by a 2000s model Ford Van driven by Junior Gibson, of Clarkson.

According to Det. Smith, Gibson stopped the van to check on Vertrees, who was knocked down by the collision. He said Vertrees assured Gibson she was OK and that he could leave.
