The operator of a motorcycle lost his life in a crash on Grayson Springs Road Tuesday afternoon.

A motorcyclist lost his life in a collision with another vehicle on Grayson Springs Road Tuesday afternoon.

At around 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday, the Leitchfield Police and Fire Departments, the Grayson County Sheriff's Office, and Grayson County EMS responded to the entrance to Shull White Road off of Grayson Springs Road on a reported vehicle versus motorcycle collision.

Shortly after arriving on the scene, first responders requested that the Grayson County Coroner's Office and Kentucky State Police respond to investigate.

Leading up to the crash, a motorcycle, operated by 27-year-old Harold C. Watts, III, of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, turned, for unknown reasons, onto Grayson Springs Road from Shull White Road and into the path of an eastbound Ford Freestyle, driven by 58-year-old Margaret Furgason, of Clarkson, according to Trooper Scotty Sharp, Public Information Officer for Kentucky State Police Post 4.

The Ford and motorcycle then collided, causing both vehicles to leave the road. The motorcycle came to a rest in a ditch beside the road, and the Ford came to a rest in a field.

Watts was pronounced deceased on the scene. Grayson County Coroner Joe Brad Hudson ruled Watts' cause of death to be blunt force trauma, and his body was transported to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Louisville, Kentucky for an autopsy.

Furgason was not reported injured.

The investigation into the crash remains ongoing by the Kentucky State Police.
